One of the most interesting easter eggs found in

Ocarina of Time 3D was the references to Skyward Sword, the title to immediate follow it, through use of assets and pictures. With Zelda U following up on Majora’s Mask 3D in a similar fashion, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to guess that some references to the Wii U game might be hidden throughout the game’s world. It may or may not be worth getting your hopes up, depending on how you interpret the following conversation with IGN and Eiji Aonuma:

In Ocarina of Time 3D, there were pictures and assets from Skyward Sword hidden throughout the world. Are these references something you’ve done again with Majora’s Mask?

Aonuma: There are lots of interesting things hidden in the 3DS version of Majora’s Mask and I do want people to go look for them, but keep in mind, these are not necessarily references to the next Zelda game. They’re just some playful touches that we had the opportunity to place around the world.

Aonuma seems to purposely avoid the subject of

Zelda U references appearing in Majora’s Mask 3D. This, along with his wording, suggests that players might just encounter some sort of appearance of Zelda U material during their playthough of the remake, although none of the easter eggs discovered thus far have indicated such. Nevertheless, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for these as we play through the game ourselves and read about the findings of others’ gameplay. Have any of you found any hints or the like in Majora’s Mask 3D? Is there more to be gleaned from Aonuma’s words?
