Weapon Upgrade List

 ~ Items ~

Arrow Capacity

 - When Link first gets the Bow and Arrow he can hold a maximum of 30 Arrows. This can be upgraded all the way to 70 Arrows. Go to the Pond of Happiness which is located in the cave in the middle of Lake Hylia. Go inside and go to the pond. It will ask if you would like to throw in Rupees. Throw in the bigger amount. It will say that you will have good luck or bad luck. Wait about 20 seconds and go to the pond again and throw in some more Rupees. Once the total reaches 100 Rupees, a fairy will come up and ask if you would like to upgrade Arrows or Bombs. It will upgrade a little but, but you can keep upgrading until you reach 70 Arrows.

Silver Arrows

 - After Link gets the sixth crystal, he can buy Super Bombs at the Bomb Shop. Buy one and blow up the cracked wall at the Pyramid of Power. Throw the Bow in the fountain and the fairy will give you the Silver Arrows. These are needed to defeat Ganon. They are also a little stronger as well.

Bomb Capacity

 - When Link first gets the Bombs he can hold a maximum of 10 Bombs. This can be upgraded all the way to 50 Bombs. It will upgrade a little but, but you can keep upgrading until you reach 50 Bombs.
Magic Meter

 - In the small area just east of Kakariko Village, where Link gets his sword tempered, there is a cave and then there is a hole next to it. Go up the stairs, use your Magic Hammer to pound the peg and then jump down into the hole. You will be in a room that has two doors, go into the top one. There is a green figure that has a little bowl. Sprinkle some Magic Powder on it and a bat will come out and cast a spell at you. This will make it so items will only use half of the magic that they used originally when they're used. The bat makes it seems like he's hurting you, but he's actually helping you.

 ~ Boomerangs ~

Boomerang

 - While you walk through the Castle Dungeon for the first time, you'll come across a treasure chest with the Boomerang. It can fetch items on the ground for you, as well as stun enemies. It will be used a lot during the beginning of the game, but usually becomes used less and less as you get better weapons.
Magic Boomerang

 - You can upgrade to the Magic Boomerang at the Waterfall of Wishing. This one is red and sparkly, but the big change is that it keeps flying until it hits the edge of the screen. This helps a lot in later dungeons where you can use this to hit a switch instead to save Arrows, and similar situations.

 ~ Swords ~

Fighter's Sword

 - Link's uncle will give you this sword before he dies. It is the weakest sword in the game, let alone one of the weakest weapons overall. Before Link can enter the Dark World, he must get the Master Sword in the Lost Woods, for he will need the strength of a better sword for the peril he'll face.
Master Sword

 - After you get all three Pendants of Virtue, go to the northwestern corner of the Lost Woods. Now you can pull the Master Sword from its pedestal. This sword is much stronger than your original sword, and it shoots weak beams when you have full health. This is required to beat the game, but the upgrades you can put on it aren't required, and you can't get either of them until much later. After getting this, the Soldiers will attack the Sanctuary, kidnapping Princess Zelda and killing the priest as well. Link will need this to defeat Agahnim.
Tempered Sword

 - The Tempered Sword is located just east of Kakariko Village. In the Dark World, go to the area where the Library was in the Light World. There should be a frog there. Lift up the black rocks and talk with him and he will follow you. Go right, and then up into the Village of Outcasts. Turn to the right once you get into the Village of Outcasts. Lift up the boulders and head up, you will see a house that is a wreck. Use your Magic Mirror and go back to the Light World. The frog should turn human. Go into the house and unite him and with his partner. Leave the house and go back in, and ask them to temper your sword, and they will for 10 Rupees. They will take it from you, so leave the area and wonder off for about five minutes and come back to get your sword.
Golden Sword

 - The Golden Sword is located in the Pyramid of Power. There is a spot in the Pyramid that can only be blown up by the Super Bomb. Go to the Bomb Shop, which is where Link's house was in the Light World. After beating the sixth crystal, the Super Bomb will be up for sale. Buy it and walk the bomb over to the Pyramid and blow up the big hole. Go inside and there will be a fountain. It will ask if you would like to throw an item in. When it asks, throw in your Sword, and in return you will receive the Golden Sword from the fairy. This is the strongest sword in the game, but it cannot be obtained until very late in the game.

 ~ Shields ~

Fighter's Shield

 - You start off with this shield. Link's uncle gives it to him before he dies in the basement of Hyrule Castle. It is the weakest shield in the game that can't block many things and isn't very big in general. Link will eventually need to get a better shield later for protection against stronger enemies.
Fire Shield

 - Link can get the Fire Shield two different ways. It is sold in a shop in the Dark World for 500 Rupees, but the free way to get it is by getting it right after you get the Zora Flippers. Once you get the Zora Flippers and leave Zora's Waterfall. There is a small waterfall located at the top-left of the area just outside of Zora's Waterfall. Swim into the waterfall and it will take you to a fountain. It will ask you to throw something in. Throw in your Fighter's Shield and in return the fairy will give you the Fire Shield.
Mirror Shield

 - The Mirror Shield is found in Turtle Rock. It is much stronger than any other shield in the game, and it can block beams and other things that no other shield can. Although it is not required to beat the game, it still comes in handy and it's rather nice to have anyway.

 ~ Mails ~

Green Mail

 - The Green Mail is the one that you start off with. It has no special features or defense whatsoever. Out of all three mails, you stick with this one the longest since the other two aren't found until very late in the game.
Blue Mail

 - Found in the Ice Temple, the Blue Mail cuts down damage Link receives by 1/2 of what he originally took. Even with this mail, bosses still do a lot of damage, so this item is crucial if you are trying to beat the game without dying once.
Red Mail

 - The Red Mail is one of the last treasures that Link will get on his quest. It cuts down the damage he receives by 1/4 of what he originally took. It is found in Ganon's Tower, so it only helps in Ganon's Tower and the final battle.

 ~ Gloves ~

Power Glove

 - The Power Glove is found in the Desert Palace. It gives you the ability to lift up the white rocks, but not the black and heavier ones. It will come in handy for many things throughout the game.
Titan's Mitt

 - Found in Gargoyle's Domain in the Dark World, the Titan's Mitt lets you lift up the black and heavy rocks unlike the normal Power Glove. Once you get it, many more areas become accessible around the overworld.
