There have been several changes done to A Link Between Worlds since it was first announced. For one, the artwork was revised, as many fans may remember. Since E3 2013, the graphics have changed a little bit as well. There are several other differences when you compare screenshots from then and now too. From missing objects to added objects, the title is being finalized for its release next month. See a comparison between screenshots after the jump!

Back at E3 2013, Nintendo showed off a new piece of artwork for A Link Between Worlds. The artwork was a simple piece depicting Link standing by a wall to show off the newest feature of the game–travelling in walls. Nintendo released a remake of the artwork a few days ago. The biggest change in the artwork is Link’s appearance. Check out both pieces after the jump!

Being a writer for Zelda Informer, it would be absurd to attend E3 and not get my hands on the playable demo of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Serving as a sequel to the Super Nintendo’s A Link to the Past, the game takes players back into the same overworld that was once traversed by the pink-haired incarnation of our Hylian hero for an all-new adventure. The demo for A Link Between Worlds gave players the option of starting inside a dungeon or exploring the overworld and making their way to the dungeon later. I chose the latter.

Much like A Link to the Past, I began my journey right outside of Link’s house in the overworld of Hyrule Field. The demo starts players off with a sword and shield, a bow and arrow, the giant hammer, and of course Link’s new magical ability to become a drawing and traverse the side of cliffs and walls.

Eiji Aonuma seems to be Mr. Popular this E3, as he has given dozens of interviews. Usually that is reserved for Mr. Miyamoto, and while he has given some interviews, it really feels like Aonuma is the one being the drilled the most. That is likely due to the polarizing popularity the Zelda series can instill among fans across platforms and generations. He talked with Kotaku about A Link Between Worlds, and in doing so shed a bit more light on some differences:

“It’s not a direct sequel in the sense that it’s the same Link and Zelda. The world is the same and it might be a different generation of Link and Zelda.”

“It’s the same world,” he said. “It’s the same space. But in the same way that, over time, the topography can change, there will be some changes. The land will be affected a little bit.

“The dungeons, for the most part, will be in the same place, but inside might change. Now that I say that out loud, it sounds a little strange, but we’re making decisions based on what’s best for gameplay. We’re picking and choosing what we change and what we don’t, so players can expect some changes.”

We were already told there would be some changes, but so far the overworld has appeared identical to A Link to the Past. We look forward to exploring every corner of the game so we can find out what exactly has changed in Hyrule this time around. Also, with a new generation of Link and Zelda… just how long after A Link to the Past do these events take place? Time will tell! Honest and to the point, Eiji Aonuma explains why the decided to revisit A Link to the Past‘s world in an interview with Eurogamer:

EG: Moving on to A Link Between Worlds – there haven’t been very many direct sequels in the Zelda series. What made you want to revisit A Link to the Past?

Aonuma: The thought was that we wanted to make a top-view Zelda with the concept that every once in a while Link would enter the wall, and only at that time would it become a 3D experience.

We figured that if we used this Link to the Past world, this architecture and structure in place, we could create it even more quickly. There’s also a lot more to explore in that environment, so we felt that world would be a great starting point. So if we say it’s a sequel to A Link to the Past, it’s easier for players to understand where we’re coming from and our starting point for this story. It also felt like that story was really well suited for a sequel.

Essentially, it allowed them to have a quick turn around on production. Combined with the story ideas they had in place, the project actually ended up being well-suited as a direct sequel. This E3, Eiji Aonuma has made a nice habit of being openly honest about Zelda and Nintendo. Keep on trucking, Mr. Aonuma.

Normally we do not post advertisements or sales on the site, but this is kind of a special occasion and many a fan would be interested. Namely, eBay is currently listing a brand new, unopened Wind Waker HD shirt from E3. Surely a collector’s item, but nonetheless priced at a very steep price point – $110 for the buyout.

Even despite the high price tag, the first thing I said when this was brought up in the staff chat was “crap, it doesn’t ship to Bosnia, can someone order it for me and DHL send it?”, but I eventually decided against it due to one simple fact – E3 or not, the shirt is goddamn ugly.

You can find the auction here, and if you buy it make sure to post pictures of you wearing it, especially if you’re a busty woman.

You know, the game may reuse most the assets from A Link to the Past, but I am really liking this visual take on that world. We also get a full look at the map on the bottom screen and really… it’s wonderful. We can see Link here fight several overworld enemies and use a few of his abilities, plus we get a much closer look at the world surrounding the towns and dungeons. To me, it all looks fantastic, but I’ve been yearning for a top-down Zelda for a long time now. Be sure to check out our A Link Between Worlds Walkthrough later this year.

The Helmaroc King is one of the most memorable boss fights in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Many fans have been eager to get a better look at the game, and what better way then watching one of Link’s climactic battles? The video is by GameSpot.

The footage is off-screen, but it sure is pretty. Take a look at the boss battle above!

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD was announced via Nintendo Direct a few months back, and ever since then, Nintendo fans have been waiting to get their hands on the game. You all are, no doubt, familiar with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for Nintendo GameCube, so the story and setting should need little explanation.

The Wind Waker HD brings dozens of changes to the original Wind Waker format, most notably moving menus to the GamePad and speeding up the drudging sailing system, a much-needed boost to make the game more appealing on its new console.

The first day of the Electronic Entertainment Expo is starting to wrap up, but we got a lot of news out of the event. A lot of Zelda news, that is.

A Wind Waker remake was announced for the Wii U back in January during a Nintendo Direct. We finally got more details during E3 today, and the week is far from over! There will be news until the conference ends! Who knows? You could Waker up tomorrow and there could be a new trailer?

…no? Waker? You wake up in the morning, and the game is called The Wind Wa… I just want to make you laugh. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. But if you just want me to recap the news I guess I could do that too.

I’ll dry my tears from your lack of longing for friendship with me… Click the jump in the meantime…
