Daily Debate: Should The Legend Of Zelda Have Its Own Line Of Toys For Younger Kids?
Posted on June 13 2020 by Heather Beard
As a mom-to-be, I’ve been on the lookout for fun toys and things for my son for when he is older. I also have two young nephews who are at the toddler toy stage, and will soon be at the age where they will want larger playsets and toys. I always get excited to look at toys because honestly, I’m a child at heart and there are some awesome toys out there now! Just recently, when perusing the store, I saw a Super Mario playset with Bowser’s Castle! The set was geared towards younger kids, maybe aged 5-10, and it was just cool. There were a few other Mario sets too, but the castle set stood out the most to me. That got me thinking though, will there ever be Zelda toys for kids?
I really hope to see Zelda toys geared towards younger kids. There are a lot of Zelda collectables, such as Nendoroids, amiibos, and the like, but it’s about time that there was more of a variety. On rare occasions, I’ll find a Zelda plush from The Wind Waker era, and I’ve even come across a Breath of the Wild plush when perusing the pop culture section of Barnes and Noble. I would love to see an actual playset or even some LEGO. Mario already has a leg-up on LEGO as announced earlier in the year, so when will Nintendo monopolize on its other mega franchise?
I could see why one would be against toys for kids; Zelda is typically marketed towards teens and older, so maybe Nintendo doesn’t see the need for a small toy line? Regardless, it would be cool to see a new variety of toys geared towards younger kids a little ways down the road.
What do you think? Should there be Zelda toys for younger kids? Sound off in the comments below!
