Appearances
The Legend of Zelda
Manhandla appears multiple times throughout The Legend of Zelda. It's a plant-like being that has claws sticking out on each side of its body. Its first appearance is as the Boss of the third Dungeon, The Manji. This foe will use two methods of attack; it will first try and shoot fireballs at Link, will take a whole heart of damage. Its second attack is to ram into Link, which also takes a heart of damage. Link can defeat Manhandla one of two ways. First, he can use his Bombs to destroy the claws that are attached to the body, and eventually use a Bomb on the center core, which will instantly defeat Manhandla. Alternatively, Link can attack the claws with his sword, but this get quite difficult, as Link will have to come very close to Manhandla, causing a rise in the chance of Manhandla making contact with Link. Defeating Manhandla rewards Link with the third Triforce Shard.

The second appearance of Manhandla is in the very next dungeon, The Snake, as the Mini-Boss. This Manhandla is exactly the same as the one Link fought in Level 3. Attack the core by first destroying the claws and Manhandla will be defeated. Interestingly, defeating Manhandla is actually not required to complete the dungeon. This is because by defeating Manhandla, the locked door at the top of the room will open, allowing Link to continue. However, Link can avoid that room by Bombing the wall to the left, which is a shortcut.

The third and final appearance of Manhandla takes place in the eighth dungeon of the game, The Lion. Link will fight Manhandla not once, not twice, but three times in this dungeon. Oppositely to the last appearance of Manhandla, all three battles must be won by Link to obtain all the dungeon has to offer; none are skipable. In this dungeon, Manhandla shares the Mini-Boss duties with Gohma, also a former Boss returning as a Mini-Boss.

Oracle of Seasons
Manhandla is the boss of the sixth dungeon, Ancient Ruins. Manhandla is a plant-like monster, with a green body and four red heads. The heads each have a wide mouth that will constantly be opening and closing throughout the battle, shooting fireballs at Link. To fight Manhandla, Link must use his Boomerang and hit its heads with it. The heads can only be damaged when they are open, so he will have to aim carefully. Each head will take about three hits to kill. Manhandla will also move slightly more quickly after each head is severed. Once all the heads have been destroyed, Link can hit the main body with his boomerang. After several strikes, the body will split apart to reveal a core. This core can now be hit with Link's Sword unmercifully. After a decent amount of hits, Manhandla will be defeated.
