"This is the Magic Cape! You are invisible when you wear it! Watch your Magic Meter!"

The Magic Cape is an optional item that appears in A Link to the Past. It can be found in a passageway under the tombstone in the upper right corner of the Hyrulian Cemetery. In order to get into the passageway, Link can either use the Titan's Mitt to lift the dark rocks surrounding the grave, or he can use the Magic Mirror in the Ghostly Garden of the Dark World to avoid the dark rocks by using it in the same area. When he gains access to the tombstone, he can use the Pegasus Shoes to dash into it and force it to slide back, revealing the passageway. At the end of the chamber, Link can find the treasure chest containing the Magic Cape.

When worn, Link turns invisible where only his shadow remains as long as he has enough magic left in his Magic Meter. Similarly to the Cane of Byrna, enemies cannot do any damage to Link when the Magic Cape is worn. Unlike the cane, the cape allows him to move through enemies and traps such as Bumpers and without detection from them. As a result of the Magic Cape draining Link's magic very quickly, he should use it sparingly.

Near Death Mountain in the Dark World, Link can find a sign that explains that whoever wears the Magic Cape will be rewarded with a Piece of Heart. In the nearby cave, he can follow the paths until he finds that a bumper blocks the end of the cave. As a result of the Magic Cape letting Link pass through traps, he can wear it and walk through it to reach the Piece of Heart.
