Three-of-a-Kind is an enemy featured in Link's Awakening.

Three-of-a-Kind always come in groups of three. They are round creatures with a white patch of flesh on their stomach. On this white patch, the symbols for the four suits of cards (that is diamond, club, spade, heart) are constantly showing in a set order. When Link strikes them with his sword, they are stopped in their tracks and whatever suit was showing stays showing. They will stay in this state until the others in the group are struck. If all three have the same suit showing, they all explode in a plume of smoke. If one is wrong, the process starts again.

The sword is the most effective weapon against this foe. If possible, wait until all of the group are close together and hit them with a spin attack. This makes sure that all have the same symbol and destroys them instantly. Bombs can be used in the same way.

The Three of a Kind was made up of three individual monsters, each with flashing symbols on its chest. The only way to defeat this unusual team of attackers was to strike each one when the same symbol was displayed on their chests." — (The Great Hyrule Encyclopedia).
