Since these enemies are invincible, trying to use any weapon as means to defeat them by just hitting them is simply pointless. The only way to get rid of these pesky, constantly persisting enemies is to repeatedly whack them with your sword until they fall into a pit. They can be annoying in groups, as they don't stop coming towards you. Avoiding them is the best way to deal with them, but often times you must knock them into pits to open up doors, which can be rather bothersome.
