It appears Hyrule Warriors may be a massive success story for both Koei Tecmo and Nintendo alike. The Dynasty Warriors creators don’t have many franchises that are huge successes, but their mainstays do well enough to make them a viable developer. Hyrule Warriors now might stand among the best games they have crafted in terms of sales, and might become their best selling game they’ve ever made. It appears the appeal of Dynasty Warriors combat and the Zelda series were the perfect match, and if you were hoping for a Hyrule Warriors 2, sales so far are indicating a high possibility it could happen.

NeoGAF user ZHugeEX put together a nice sales info-graph comparing the sales of Hyrule Warriors to more recent releases out of series that relate to it (Dynasty Warriors, as an example). While we cannot verify the figures in the data (thus making this a report, rather than official news), they seem to match up well with known estimated sales data. Essentially, Hyrule Warriors is on pace to destroy their top selling games, having sold better in it’s first 4 months than any other game they have released, both in the United States and Japan.

Since we’re working with hypothetical data, VGChartz, folks that also make estimated guesses at sales data, have the game also as selling more than 400,000 units in the United States and 840,000 units world wide. It’s likely going to sell over a million by the time summer hits. Here’s other interesting data to note from Japan:
