In a recent interview with Famitsu, Eiji Aonuma shared some more information on the upcoming Majora’s Mask 3D. In the original game, the designers expected the player to have come from Ocarina of Time and already be familiar with some of the basic mechanics of the game. Because of this, not everything was explained clearly and players who started with Majora’s Mask had a tendency to get lost. For the remake, the team wants to make sure that newer players have just as easy a time getting into it as veteran players.

Aonuma: Specifically speaking, parts that were conventions and weren’t explained at all are changed, and challenges which you realize by repeating many times are made easier to understand.

Don’t worry though; the changes are not designed to make the game simpler or easier. Instead, the emphasis is being placed on helping stumped players with hints. One of the boss battles (it is not said which one) is supposed to have been modified as well, but that appears to be the only thing that will change the difficulty for players who know what they are doing.

Does Aonuma’s interview serve to quell your fears about tutorials in Majora’s Mask 3D or are you still afraid that the hand-holding that people complained about in Skyward Sword will return with a vengeance? Let us know in the comments!
