Koei Tecmo returns to the spotlight with another character trailer for Link in the upcoming game: Hyrule Warriors. In the video demo, he brings on the pain with his third weapon in the game: the Power Gloves, which first appeared in the game A Link to the Past. He also wields the newly designed Ball and Chain that debuted in the main series game: Twilight Princess.

This video does more than just show us some amazing combos. It effectively showcases the versatility of Link’s new item, as he is able to pick up larger objects, which can help the player solve puzzles or cause more mayhem on the playing field. We’re also treated to a mini sneak peek of the boss fight with the Imprisoned, and it definitely pays respect to the original combat strategy used in Skyward Sword. Another reference to the aforementioned game is the remix of Skyloft’s Theme, which also serves as the theme song of Princess Zelda’s second video. It transitions smoothly to an epic rendition of the Ballad of the Goddess. Justice is served, indeed.

Link’s use of the Fire Rod has impressed me the most so far, but his abilities with the Power Gloves may just be more useful later on. Some of us fans have been wondering if other characters’ weapons may become available to use. It would be interesting to see Link swinging around Impa’s blade similarly to the way he did during his encounter with Koloktos (boss from Skyward Sword).

What are your thoughts on the video? What do you think Link’s power level is at this point? Let us know in the comments.
