This holiday season is proving that it is a good time to be a Nintendo fan. We have already covered a lot of great stuff this morning that was revealed during the Japan 3DS Direct, but there is still more to be said. The new models of the 3DS and 3DS LL/XL have caused an uproar with the inclusion of new controls and improved 3D, but the hardware is not the only thing being improved. System customization is getting a boost with an all new theme system for Nintendo’s handheld featuring A Link Between Worlds. You can check it out, along with the others, in the gallery below.

On top of that, we also got confirmation from Nintendo on details related to the release of the Amiibo. While we have no confirmed release date yet, considering it will probably coincide with Smash Bros. Wii U, Amiibo has been officially priced at $12.99 and is available for pre-order at select retailers. The first 12 to be released are:

  • Mario
  • Peach
  • Link
  • Samus
  • Yoshi
  • Donkey Kong
  • Pikachu
  • Kirby
  • Fox
  • Marth
  • Villager
  • Wii Fit Trainer

It is worth noting that these figures are only the first to be released this holiday, but more will be released later. I would imagine that Nintendo would play it fair across the board and eventually have an Amiibo for every Smash Bros. character, but that is just a theory.

Which Amiibo figures are you going to pre-order? Which ones do you want to see released in the future? What other skins would you like to see made available? Let us know in the comments down below.
