4.1 Molida Island

Items: Shovel, Treasure Map #2
New Enemies: Zora Warrior

 - Upon arriving at Molida Island, Linebeck states the obvious of how we cannot navigate through the fog. Once he is done rambling it is time to explore the island. Follow the stone pathway and youíll run into a girl wearing read. Donít mind her as she just says what we already know about the fog to the north.

 - There is a stone tablet here, read it, and what to do you know, more about the fog to the north. This statue will be important on this island, so mark the exact location on your map.

 - The first hut here is empty so donít bother heading inside. There is a woman just to the right of the house. Talk to her and she goes on about the fog again, but gives us some useful information. Romanos, who lives at the edge of town, had a father that made his way through the fog.

 - Continue on and you will see a stone statue. Striking it will just tell you that there is a hidden spring south of this island. It is actually pointing to Spirit Island, which we just visited. Continue into the second house here and youíll find a treasure chest. Open it to get a piece of treasure!

 - Exit the house and you will find another stone tablet just to the right. Reading this one, Link will find that Romanos' father reached the Island of Gust on his journey. There is something special about these tablets, so mark this ones exact location as well.

 - The third hut you run into is another shop. If you didnít get the first power gem on Mercay Island, you can buy it here for the same price. Also for sale are some arrows, but we cannot buy them just yet because we do not have a bow. Continue along the island to get to a garden by the fourth house. Talk to the women here to find out that she is Romanosí mother. Talking to her will give you more information about her husbandís quest through the fog. Once you are done with that, enter the hut to finally meet Romanos.

 - Talk to Romanos and Link tells him he wants to travel to the Isle of Gust. Answer that you want to go your own way and he goes on a rant about it and eventually leaves you alone. Try leaving the house and he calls you back and apologizes. He tells you that his dad had a specific route for getting through the fog but only he knew how to. He mentions a cave behind the house where dad would go. Exit the house and enter the cave at the top part of the garden. Romanosí mother will stop you but then let you pass if Romanos said so, but warns you of its dangers.

~ Molida Island Cavern ~

 - Head inside and you will find a few red chuchuís running wild. Defeat them and head up some steps once you reach them. Defeat the keese that are flying around and jump your way across the platforms. There is a chest at a high platform, but you cannot reach it as of now. You can mark it on your map for future reference. Youíll notice there is a soft spot of soil on the ground here. Donít mind it for now, but you should mark it on your map. Head up and a monster will jump out of the water.

Zora Warrior
Threat

Attacks
Sword
 - These huge enemies aren't as tough as they look, although they're only vulnerable from the back.
 - Stay out of its range and use the Boomerang to stun them in the back, then run up and slash away. Five hits will defeat this juggernaut.

 - After defeating the fishy warrior, the door above will open, revealing a small cave.

 - Navigate through this area defeating the few octoroks that are in your way. In this next area you will see a bomb like item on the floor. There is a bomb flower next to the door here. For now progress further and defeat any remaining keese in this area and you will notice that one of the walls seems a bit cracked. Pick up one of the bomb flowers and toss it towards the cracked wall. It will explode to reveal an entrance.

 - Looks like we found Romanosí dads hideout, or did we? Tap on the book in the center of the room to read the journal. The journal mentions that there is another hideaway and it is under the spot where the lines drawn between the stone tablets intersect. There is also a treasure chest in this hideout, open it to get the shovel!

New Item: Shovel Molida Island - Wayfarer's 1st Hideout
 - Naturally, this item allows you dig up as well as bury things in the ground. Be on the lookout for soft soil spots and start digging!

 - There is actually a soft soil spot in this room just below the treasure chest. Dig it up to get a big green rupee! Exit the hideout and head left. You will see some steps above and a few blocks below. Use a bomb flower and blow up the blocks. You will notice it just takes you back to the beginning part of this cave. Jump over the platforms again to get to where you battled the Zora Warrior.

 - Remember that soft soil spot that we saw here? Dig it up and Link will find another big green rupee! Now backtrack towards the stairs we passed up and head up them to exit the cave.

 - Back outside again, just left right away and you will come to a treasure chest that is facing the water. Just tap on it to open it and receive another treasure piece! Head back to the right and you will come across a third stone tablet. Tapping on it will inform Link that there are many islands beyond the fog. Mark this third stone tablet on your map and then continue to the right.

 - Continue down a screen and you are back by Romanosí home, just on a higher ledge. The fourth stone statue is here, so tap on it to read it. This tablet gives you information on a temple that is found on the Isle of the Gust! Mark this fourth tablet on your map. Jump off the ledge to the bottom and you will notice another soft soil spot just below the palm tree. Dig it up to find yet another green rupee!

 - Open up your map and you should have all four stone tablets marked. Connect the lines to make an x shape and then head on over to the intersection point. Donít mind if your lines are a bit off, as the exact that the lines should intersect is just under a palm tree. Dig it up to reveal a hole to another secret hideout. Drop down.

 - In a very similar hideout, you will see another journal on the table. Reading the journal and you will find that it is a personal letter to Romanos from his father. In addition to the journal here, there is another treasure chest. Open it to get your second treasure map!

New Item: Treasure Map #2 Molida Island - Wayfarer's 2nd Hideout
 - This map shows the locations of sunken treasure in the southwest quadrant of the Great Sea!

 - The most important piece of information in this hideout lies on the wall in the form of a map. Tap on it and the map of the northwest quadrant will appear. However, there is a route sketched on it with a note to Romanos from his father, stating this is the way through the fog.

 - Tap the Sea Chart and be sure to sketch the exact route onto your map so you donít forget! We are now ready to set sail through the fog now that we have the correct route. Head left and up the steps. You will run into a few yellow chuchuís here, which are easily disposable.

 - Ciela will jump in and tells Link of that mysterious sun emblem that she sees on the door. She tells Link to try and open it but he cannot. Ciela suggest that the symbol has some special meaning. Mark the special symbol on your map. Head to the right, jump off the ledge and continue out of the cave. Not much else left to do on this island, so once you are ready, head back to Linebeck to set sail.

4.2 The Northwest Quadrant

Treasure Maps: Treasure Map #3, Treasure Map #4
New Enemies: Cannon Boat
Heart Containers: Heart Container #2
Gems: Courage Gem #2
 - Now that Link has the shovel, there a few side quests that he can take upon himself which will help gain two new treasure maps. These maps arenít necessary to the quest and can be done at a later point in time. However, this is the first opportunity Link has in getting them. Nonetheless, before heading to the northwest quadrant again, take a detour and sale back to the Isle of Ember.

 - Upon arriving, your first stop should be back at Astridís House. Head down to the basement where you previously saved Astrid and you will find two soft soil spots. One at the bottom-right corner will contain the third treasure map! The other one will just contain a red rupee.

New Item: Treasure Map #3 Isle of Ember - Astridís House
 - This map shows the locations of sunken treasure in the southwest quadrant of the Great Sea!

 - Exit Astridís house and our next destination is the far east coast of this island, at Kayoís remains. Upon arriving, you will see that a grave has been built for Kayo. His spirit still lies above and for saving Astrid, he will give you a hint on another treasure that is buried on the island. He marks a point up the mountain. Mark it on your map and then navigate through the island to get there. The map is located under a loan patch of grass so it is easy to find.

New Item: Treasure Map #4 Isle of Ember - Southwest Quadrant
 - This map shows the locations of sunken treasure in the southwest quadrant of the Great Sea!

 - Thatís all for now, so run back over to Linebeck and board the ship. Now we can set sail towards the fog. Once you reach the northwest quadrant, trace the path which is the same as we saw from Romanosí dads map.

 - This journey is quite long and difficult. Sea enemies will be all over the place, Ocean Octoroks and Eye Plants among them. Add in the barrels that are in Linkís path along with the fog, this could get kind of rough. Whatís worse about it, is that if you lose all your life, you will have to continue all the way back from the last island you set sail from. In that case, I recommended docking at Molida just before you leave.

 - Once you finally reach the end of the line and the fog begins to clear, you are immediately confronted with a new enemy, the Cannon Boat, two of them to be exact.

Cannon Boat
Threat

Attacks
Sword
 - These incredibly tough water enemies move rather quickly as they shoot cannon balls at you. Each shot will deal an entire heart of damage, which is quite deadly this early in the game.
 - They take five shots to defeat, so hurry!

 - Once thatís taken care of, there are a few places of interest before we dock at the Isle of Gust. Beetles Shop Ship is around here as well and it sells the same items that were in the southwest quadrant. Itís a good idea to buy a ship part and treasure if you have some rupees. If you didnít get the Wisdom Gem the first time around and have some extra rupees, that is also an option.

 - Maybe you are lucky enough to run into Beedleís Assistant. If the ship has a helmet on it, then sail over to the shop. There are rare items here and one of them is the second heart container!

Heart Container #2 Beedle's Secret Shop Ship
 - This one can only be found on Beetle's Ship when it has a helmet (rare and random). Because this is a limited chance, grab it if you can at the hefty price of 1,500 Rupees. Eep.

Courage Gem #2 Beedle's Secret Shop Ship
 - This one is available at the Special Shop Ship for 500 Rupees. There's no rush to get it yet, but do so if you can.

View Courage Gems Guide.

 - We are in no rush in heading to the Isle of Gust just yet, so lets explore the other major island here, Bannan Island to the north.

4.3 Fishing Away

Items: Fishing Rod, Big Catch Lure
Heart Containers: Heart Container #3
~ Bannan Island ~

 - Once you arrive you can head up to explore the island. There is a cave to the right but it is blocked off and we will need bombs to pass. Make your way to the northern part of the island defeating any ropes and red and yellow chuchu's as well. Read the sign to see that it is Old Wayfarer's House. Enter the hut.

 - Talk to the Old Wayfarer and he will go on and on about searching for a certain something. He seems obsessed with this mermaid that he must have. Anyway, once heís done blabbering, you can talk to him again and he will give you some advice about the mermaid saying that it wonít show itself if there are enemies near by.

 - Exit the hut and defeat all the enemies on this half of the island and then wander the coastline of the island. You will see the mermaid but she will dive back into the water if you come to close. Stand a bit away and sketch your boomerang. You will be able to see further, so whack her with the boomerang. She lectures Link explaining she is just a girl dressed up like a mermaid and demands an apology. After some more chit-chatting, the girl will dive back underwater.

 - Run and chat with the Old Wayfarer. He doesnít quite believe your story and will dismiss it. Although he is worried maybe the mermaid found somebody else. Exit the hut and run back towards Linebeck. Talk with him and he will say he saw the mermaid girl swimming around and had a short chat with her. Run back and talk with the Old Wayfarer once more and the mermaid girl will be in the swimming pool! After thanking Link for helping out, he will give him the Fishing Rod!

New Item: Fishing Rod Old Wayfarer's Hut - Bannan Island
 - Use this item to try and catch fish! Not much else to say about it really.

 - He goes on to talk about how he made the rod to catch the mermaid but it is now useless to him. He tells you to keep an eye out for fish shadows. He gives you some brief instructions on how to fish and then you are off. Head back to Linebeckís ship.

 ~ Great Sea ~

 - Fishing is an optional quest at this point. It takes time but can be a lot of fun and does lead to another heart container! Once you set sail, you will see a fish symbol on the sea chart floating around. Sail your ship towards the fish symbol and once Link is on top of the symbol, tap on the menu button and then fish.

 - It will change the view with the bottom screen showing Link on the ship and the top screen showing Linkís lure in the water. Fishing is all about timing. Once a fish locks onto the lure quickly pull up on the rod. To do so, make a downward line on the touch screen. If you miss the initial hook, the fish will escape and you will return back to sailing.

 - If you do make the initial hook, a meter will appear on the left. Obviously, you want to avoid the danger part of the meter. Keep pulling up on the rod by drawing a downward line on the touch screen and the meter will move up. Once it is near the green area, you can begin to reel the fish in by drawing mini circles. The distance of the fish will come up on the top bar. However, as you start reeling the fish in, the meter will begin to the fall. At this point go back to pulling up on the road to raise the bar. Repeat this process as you slowly begin to reel the fish in.

 - To throw you off some more, the fish will occasionally jump out of the water. A big Let Go will appear on your screen and you should do just that. Take your stylus off of the touch screen otherwise the fish will break free. Be patient and act quickly with your decision making and you will eventually reel a fish in!

 - Link first needs to catch the three basic types of fish, a Skippyjack, a Toona, and a Loovar. Once a fish escapes or is caught, Link will be back at sail. It takes a little bit of time for another fish too appear on your screen. You can take the time to dock on an island or just wait it out. Repeat the entire fishing process until you got all three types of fish!

 - It could take quite some time to catch a Loovar as they are quite rare. Once you finally do head back to Bannan Island and talk to the Old Wayfarer. He is proud that Link was able to catch and Loovar and feels he is deserving of a new item.

New Item: Big Catch Lure Old Wayfarer's Hut - Bannan Island
 - This item allows you to catch huge fish! We'll need it for a later side-quest, but for now, it's just good to have.

 - As the name suggests, Link can catch a ton of big fish with this lure. Once you have the big catch lure, you can possibly catch a Rusty Swordfish within a normal fish shadow. It may take many tries, but once you finally catch the Rusty Swordfish, head over to the old wayfarer and show him your catch. He was be amazed that you can reel in such a monstrous fish and tell you of the legendary Neptoona.

 - Be aware that these swordfish areas are pretty rare and may take time and patience to find one. Not to mention the fish within that swordfish shadow are quite fast. When you do fish within one of these areas, you have a chance of it being Neptoona. Once you do end up running into one and finally catch it head back over to Wayfarer once again. He will be amazed of your great catch and will reward Link with a Heart Container!

Heart Container #3 Bannan Island - Wayfarer's House
 - After catching a Neptoona, show it off to Wayfarer and he will reward you with a Heart Container!

~ Lone Traveler's Ship ~

 - There is also a lone travelerís ship found amongst the seas. Board it and you will see a man that dressed just like Link. He thinks Link is dressing just like him though. Nonetheless, he goes his boat the Red Lion Ship. Wonder where he got that one from. He continues to blabber on and offers to give Link an autograph. Although he is out of paper! Nonetheless, talk to him again and offers to help train Link.

 - Once Link starts this many battle, just tap on the man to swipe your sword. The number of hits appears at the top right of the screen. The man is impressed with Link and awards him the Apprentice of the Hero. He will also give Link a treasure piece.

 - Leave the ship and board it once more. Talk to the man again and he will give you some more sword lessons. Beat the number of hits you had before and the man will reward you with another treasure. He gives you the title of Half a Hero.

 - Once again leave and return. This time, his defense is stronger Just keep striking and once you beat your record again, he will title you Two Thirds a Hero and give you yet another treasure piece!

 - The fourth battle with this man is a bit different. His defense is once again stronger, and now he will attack you! The goal is to strike him as many times as you can before he can hit you three times. It shows three little Link heads in corner, which correspond to how many hits you have left. Just keep whacking him around dodge his attacks. After 100 hits with your sword, just let him beat you and he will be amazed you got 100 hits on him. He rewards you with a Heart Container!

Heart Container #4 Lone Traveler's Ship - Northwest Quadrant
 - Train with the lone traveler for the forth time and land one hundred strikes to get this Container.

 - You can stay aboard his ship and keep battling him over and over. Each time you break your own record, you will be rewarded treasure pieces and ship parts. One you are done, board Linebeckís ship.

4.4 Island Hopping

Items: Cyclone Slate
Gems: Wisdom Gem #2
Treasure Map: Treasure Map #5, Treasure Map #6
~ Great Sea ~

 - Back sailing around, head to the far north portion of this quadrant. Donít head to far west because fog still rules that area. Once you come close to the north, there is an uncharted island that Ciela spots. She will mark it on your map. Sail to the anchor and step aboard Zauzís Island.

~ Zauz's Island ~

 - Your first spot to look at on this island is the lone hut here. Enter it and head over and talk with Zauz. After hammering away at something he will finally turn his attention towards Link. He surprisingly knows about Linkís adventure. He mentions that he has nothing to tell you now, but later on, Link will need his power.

 - Back outside, walk over and corner one of the cuccoís. Lift it up and then carry it to the right side of this higher ground. You will notice on your map there is another higher area just to the right. Use the cucco to fly over to that area and you will find a treasure chest. Open it up to get a Wisdom Gem!

Wisdom Gem #2 Zauz's Island - Northwest Quadrant
 - Ride a cucco over to the treasure chest just east of Zauz's hut.

View Wisdom Gems Guide.

 - Before leaving the island, there is one more thing we can accomplish. Head to the top of the island and you will see a stone tablet. Read it and it tells you to find stone tiles on both sides of the island. It tells you to connect the tiles with lines on the east and on the west. Extend the lines so that they intersect. Use your shovel to dig in that area. You can go and do just that, walk around the island and find the four stone tiles. Plot them on your map and then connect the lines to find an intersection point at the south part of the island.

 - The spot that they intersect is just right and slightly above the palm tree here. Dig it up to find your 5th Treasure Map!

New Item: Treasure Map #5 Zauz's Island - Northwest Quadrant
 - This map shows the locations of sunken treasure in the northwest quadrant of the Great Sea!

 - Thatís all there is over here, so head back over to Linebeck and board the ship.

~ Great Sea ~

 - There is another secret island in this part of the sea! Just south of Bannan Island. Sail along the eastern part near the large rocks and Ciela will see another uncharted island. Sail towards it and dock your ship.

 - Once you arrive at this island, Linebeck spots the obvious, there is no map on this uncharted island! There are a ton of yellow chuchuís, crows, and miniblinís all around this island, as well as a ton of stone statues that donít say anything, except for one. This one is in the center of the island, just south of a cave and some water. Talk to it and it says that a Golden Chief dwells on this island. This chief has the power to harness the power of sea cyclones. He goes on to say that the you can only enter if you hit his four buddies in a specific order. He does give you a hint on the order. It gives you a little riddle, which shouldnít make much sense really.

 - The trick to figuring this out is Linebeck! He suggests sketching the map of the island. In order to do this, just walk around the map, noting where you are by scribbling it down. It takes some time, but once you are done, the map should be in the shape of a whale. Hmm, now the riddle makes sense. ďIt steers with a rudder, then makes a spray! And third, it paddles, then sees a way.Ē The whaleís rudder, spray, fin, and eye! In case you canít get all that, hit the statues in this order, northeastern, northwestern, southwestern, and west.

 - Hitting the four in a row will create a bridge near the center of the island. Head on over to it and cross the bridge to find a cave. Enter it and travel to the next room. This place is surrounded by water and torches that light up as you walk passed them. Head straight ahead and a giant golden frog will appear from the water.

 - The frog introduces himself as the Golden Chief Cylos. He says that he can travel through the cyclones. He notices the Phantom Hourglass that Link is carrying and assumes that means that Link knows old Oshus. After telling the golden frog of Linkís quest to find the Ghost Ship and save Tetra, Cylos offers to help.

New Item: Cyclone Slate Uncharted Island - Secret Cavern
 - This nifty piece of stone allows you to draw symbols on it to warp to different locations in the Great Sea.
 - There are six golden frogs jumping around in the water that hold the various symbols and you've run into three of them so far. Find them all and learn all the warp symbols!

 - After you are done chatting, you are free to leave this cave.

 - Before leaving the island there is one other thing you can get here. Head left to the statue that is closest to Linebeck. Bring out your shovel and dig just in front of the statue and a treasure map will pop out!

New Item: Treasure Map #6 Uncharted Island - Northwest Quadrant
 - This map shows the locations of sunken treasure in the southwest quadrant of the Great Sea!

 - Now head over to Linebeck and exit this uncharted island.

4.5 A Froggy Frog World

Golden Frogs: Golden Frog #1, Golden Frog #2, Golden Frog #3
~ Great Sea ~

Sail to the west and north a bit and you will see a golden frog jumping around. Use the cannon to shoot it down and then it will chat with you. The frog will ask if you want to know what to draw on the cyclone slate to warp here. Of course we want to know. The frog will draw a shape of a backwards N. Be sure to note it on your sea chart!

 - We can find two more golden frogs back in the southwestern quadrant so set sail to the south. Once you arrive in this area, a whirlwind will carry Link away and you will be taken to the central part of this quadrant. This actually helps us since it brings us closer to our next golden frog. Set sail to the middle of the two rocks that are just north of the island of ember. You'll run into the frog so blast it away with your cannon. He says that the big frog spread the word about you and will then give away his sign location. It basically is an X with a straight line at the bottom. Be sure to jot it down on your sea chart so you can easily travel back to this location.

 - We got one more frog to find and he is on the western portion of this area. Set your sail through the reef of rocks on the left. The next frog is located just north of Molida Island. Sail around the area until you see him pop up. Strike him with a cannon to knock him down. He repeats the same thing as the two previous frogs and will show you another symbol. This one looks like an oval with a vertical line through it. Be sure to mark it on your sea chart. Now that we have all three of the golden frog locations we can get thus far, we can finally set sail to the Isle of Gust.

 - We do not need to sail through the fog again now that we have the Cyclone Slate. Press the menu at the bottom while you are at sea and tap on the cyclone slate. It will come up and at this point just draw the backwards N to get back to the northwest quadrant. A whirlwind will lift your ship up and take you to the frog location. From here, set sail to the Isle of Gust, which is the large island just to the south.
