Agahnim |

- Agahnim is a wizard who was trusted by the Royal Family. He betrayed them and opened a gate to the Dark World for Ganon to enter. Agahnim was simply a pawn of Ganon's used to do his evil wishes.

Ganon |
|
|
- Ganon is the main villain in the game. He stole the Triforce and turned the Golden Land into a twisted, dark dimension also known as the Dark World. He uses Agahnim as a pawn to do evil in the Light World. Only Link can defeat him and recover the Triforce.

Link |
|
|
- Link is the main hero in the game. He is awoken one night by Zelda's telepathic message from the Castle Dungeon for help. His uncle goes and tells him to stay behind, but Link doesn't listen. Link's destiny turns out to be that he must recover the Triforce and save the world.

Link's Uncle |
|
|
- Link's Uncle awakens one night and sneaks into Hyrule Castle. Link finds him gravely injured, and he gives Link his sword and shield before he passes away. He tells him to save Hyrule and Princess Zelda as his last words.

Royal Family |

|
- The Royal Family was betrayed by Agahnim. The seven maidens (one of which includes Zelda) are descendants of the seven wise men. All of them get sealed away by Agahnim, breaking the seal holding back the Dark World.

Sahasrahla |
|
|
- Sahasrahla is a descendant of the seven wise men. He helps Link out a few times on his journey, but mostly by advice.

Zelda |
|
|
- Zelda is the princess of Hyrule. After six of the maidens got sealed away by Agahnim, Zelda was trapped in the Castle Dungeon, waiting to be sealed away and to break the seal. She sends Link and his uncle a telepathic message in the middle of the night.
