Lorule is the alternate world found within A Link Between Worlds. It is represented by the upside-down black Triforce in the logo. Lorule is a parallel world compared to Hyrule.[1] Hilda is the princess of Lorule in parallel to Zelda, princess of Hyrule. Link travels here over the course of his journey.

Story

Spoiler Alert! This section describes a subject that is sensitive to plot development.

Lorule was once a beauteful country like Hyrule, protected by its own Triforce. However, the desire for the Triforce was too strong amongst the people, and Hilda's ancestors made the decision to destroy it. Though their intentions were good, the land could not prosper without their Triforce. Desperate to save her people, Hilda, princess of Lorule, joined forces with the evil Yuga to steal Hyrule's Triforce, not realizing she might bring the doom of both the lands by doing so. At the end, Hilda is convinced by Ravio to return the Triforce to Zelda. Zelda and Link then touch the Triforce and wish for Lorule's Triforce to be restored.

Trivia

  • The name Lorule is likely a play on using the opposite of Hyrule (High-rule and Low-rule).
  • Lorule features many of the characters featured in Hyrule but with a darker personality; the main example being Hilda being the counterpart to Zelda.
