Location

The Rattle is a sidequest item that appears in Skyward Sword. It belongs to the child of Bertie and Luv, though it was taken by a bird.[1] The bird keeps it in its nest at Skyloft; it can be reached by jumping off of a platform at the top of the waterfall that requires the Double Clawshots to get to.

After losing the Rattle, Bertie can no longer sleep because the baby keeps him up at night.[2][3] Link can locate the Rattle and bring it back to Bertie, who will use it to put the baby to sleep.[4][5] He thanks Link and gives him five Gratitude Crystals.[6]

  1. "If we had the you know what, then the baby would settle down. But we lost it the other day. A bird picked it up in its beak and flew off with it. Maybe the bird thought it was food. I don't know... Of course, the bird wouldn't have eaten it, so I think it must still be somewhere here in town. I just don't know where... Sigh... It sure would be nice if someone would find it for me." — Bertie, Skyward Sword.
  2. "The baby just goes on and on like this all night. I haven't slept a wink in... Ahhh... I don't even know how long. The baby usually sleeps like a sack of rocks. But that was before we lost the you know what...
No, what? :Oh, that?" — Bertie, Skyward Sword.
  3. "The baby's Rattle." — Bertie, Skyward Sword.
  4. "Is that...? The baby's Rattle! You found it!" — Bertie, Skyward Sword.
  5. "Who's a sleepy baby? Time for beddy-bye." — Bertie, Skyward Sword.
  6. "Whew. The baby seems to have settled down nicely. I bet the baby will sleep well tonight. Oh! That means I'll finally get a good night's sleep too! Thank you so much! I won't forget what you did for me." — Bertie, Skyward Sword.
