In Ocarina of Time, Gossip Stones can be found throughout Hyrule. They are small rocks that have the Mask of Truth symbol on them. While Link will need the Mask of Truth to get the information out of the stones, there are still some fun tricks that you can do with these stones. Some of which can actually be helpful on your journey.

  • Smack them with your sword to make them giggle, bounce around for a moment, then tell you what time of day it is.
  • Squish them with the Megaton Hammer. They pop back out after a moment and tell you the time.
  • Shoot them with a projectile, like the Fairy Bow, Hookshot, Fairy Slingshot or Boomerang. It makes them wiggle about.
  • Use Din's Fire to make them spin around and grow, Mario-style, momentarily.
  • Play either Zelda's Lullaby or the Song of Time to make a regular fairy appear, or the Song of Storms to make a Big Fairy appear. Awesome way to fill up your bottles if you see one of these stones nearby!
  • Use an explosion like Bombs or Bombchus to make them start blinking. You can slash them as they change colors to make them stay that color, or you can let their countdown finish and they'll take off like a rocket. Goodbye! *wave*

Locations

There are a total of 32 Gossip Stones found throughout Hyrule. Listed below are the 32 locations, as well as their corresponding message. In order to reach these messages, Link will need to be a child and will need to be wearing the Mask of Truth, which can be acquired from the Ocarina of Time Masks sidequest. In some cases, there are minor word or grammatical changes between the Nintendo 64 and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game.
