Appearances
A Link to the Past
- Main article: Red Mail
The Red Tunic of A Link to the Past, also known as the Red Mail, increases Link's defensive power. It is found in Ganon's Tower, and is the best tunic in the game.
Link's Awakening
"You've got the Red Clothes! Your body is full of energy![1]"
In Link's Awakening, the Red Tunic serves a completely different purpose from A Link to the Past. Instead of increasing Link's defense, it boosts his attack power, enabling him to do twice as much damage. It is optional, and not required to complete the game. Link can only get this tunic in the DX version of the game in the Color Dungeon. After completing the dungeon, the Fairy Queen will give Link "the power of color", with the option to have more offense or defense.[2] The Red Tunic will grant double attack power, while the Blue Tunic gives double defense.
Ocarina of Time
- Main article: Goron Tunic
Link obtains the Goron Tunic from the Goron leader Darunia's son. He can also purchase one from the shop in Goron City for 300 Rupees. This special article of clothing is heat resistant and allows Link to survive in Death Mountain Crater, as well as enter the Fire Temple.
