- 1st - Link's Awakening DX was released for the Game Boy Color in Europe.
December
- 1st - The Nintendo 64DD is released in Japan. Originally, this was a disc expansion for the Nintendo 64 and Zelda three games were suppose to run on it. Zelda64, which became Ocarina of Time released for the Nintendo 64, Zelda Gaiden, which became Majora's Mask, and Ura Zelda. Ura Zelda was never released for the Nintendo 64, and it wasn't until the Master Quest was released on the Nintendo GameCube as a pre-order bundle for The Wind Waker did this ever see the light of day. There is some discrepancy about how much of Ura Zelda was actually in Master Quest.
