What is a Glitch?

A Glitch is a mistake in a game's coding. Zelda games can be filled with glitches that some players learn how to exploit to make the games easier to complete. Some of the notable glitches are the wall-clipping in A Link to the Past, the Ocarina items in Ocarina of Time, and the storage glitch in The Wind Waker. One glitch that is in both "Ocarina of Time" and "Majora's Mask" is called the Superslide. It is a glitch in which Link finds a hole in the ground and places a bomb at the edge. He pulls out his shield and flips over the hole then back. The bomb explodes and Link just zooms backward. And keeps going. And going. And going. AND GOING!!!!!! Well. Glitches can be funny, odd, strange, or helpful. Some make players laugh out loud. Others make people scratch their head and wonder, "What the heck?" Still others are so strange, or scary, that it makes players want to throw the game in a Dumpster. On trash collection day. Hah.

Examples

As we have said, some glitches are funny, or odd, or even scary! (But don't worry, there's not a lot of scary glitches...) Anyway, a cute glitch in "Majora's Mask" is referred to a the "Dog Mask Glitch". It serves no real purpose, but is funny and cute and includes a dog on Link's face.
