Skyward Sword
Ampilus are enemies from Skyward Sword. The Legend of Zelda: Encyclopedia, pg. 162

Ampilus is an unusual desert-dwelling enemy who's only mode of attack seems to be rolling like a Goron. While it looks like a wheel, it appears to be shaped like a spiral or a rolled-up creature, making it strongly resemble the Rollobites from The Minish Cap. Whether it is simply a wheel-shaped enemy or can unroll and move or attack in other ways is unknown. Its body is electrified, and inside of its hard shell is a crab. When Ampilus stops moving, you can walk up to it and slash the head with your sword to kill it.
Skyward Sword
Ampilus is an unusual crab-like desert-dwelling enemy whose only mode of attack is rolling at Link with its electrically-charged shell . On the inside of its hard spiral shell is a soft crab. The simplest way to defeat the Ampilus is by blowing it up with a Bomb. The other way to defeat the Ampilus is to stun it by either shield bashing it or leading it into a wall. Once it is stunned, Link can easily destroy it by hitting it with his Sword. When defeated, it drops 5 Rupees. When surfacing on streams of sink-sand, Link can defeat it and get on top of its shell to reach areas that he cannot reach without aid.

When caught in a Timeshift Stone-affected area, Ampilus turn into Ampilus Eggs that can only harm Link when he is holding them.
