Almost a year and a half after the release of [[A Link to the Past|A Link To The Past]], Nintendo made an on-the-go adventure for the Gameboy titled Link's Awakening. The tone of the game was much more light-hearted compared to the previous games, having the townspeople making comments about how the controls work for the Gameboy, then explaining they have no idea what they're talking about. The game also featured several cameo appearances from other Nintendo games, primarily from the Mario series, including several enemies, such as the [[Goomba|Goombas]], which could be defeated by jumping on them as in the Mario games.
