Its only real purpose comes into play in the Cawlin Love Letter Side Quest. One of the options in this quest is to give the love letter to a floating ghost hand in the toilet of the restroom (much like ??? from ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask|Majora's Mask]]'') who is in need of paper of some sort. In a very comical scene afterwards, the hand will be stroking the head of [[Cawlin]] in his sleep making claims on how it has fallen in love with the young man.
