In ''Ocarina of Time'', Hyrule Basses are common fish in the [[Fishing Pond]] that are quick to bite and easy to reel in. Two fish are present in the Fishing Pond; one is the Hyrule Bass, which can be caught with the standard lure, and the other is the [[Hylian Loach]], which can only be caught with the [[Sinking Lure]].

In ''Twilight Princess'', Hyrule Basses are quite aggressive when it comes to being captured, as they will jump out of the water to hit the [[Fishing Rod]] and make [[Link]] lose his aim. They can be found in [[Hena's Fishing Hole]], [[Eldin Spring]], and other hidden water sources.

The Hyrule Bass makes a return in ''Breath of the Wild'', and this time is a fairly common fish found in many rivers, lakes and ponds. It can be eaten raw by Link to recover 1 heart, however it can be used in a variety of [[Breath of the Wild Recipes|Recipes]] in order to maximize its use. It can be cooked on an open flame into a [[Roasted Bass]], which recovers an extra ½ of a heart.

While on the Great Plateau, Link will find [[The Old Man's Diary]], located at the [[Woodcutter's House]]. The [[Old Man (Breath of the Wild)|Old Man]] writes about the [[Spicy Meat and Seafood Fry]] recipe, but he has unfortunately forgotten the final ingredient. He does remember that it includes both [[Raw Meat]] and a [[Spicy Pepper]], but does not recall the final ingredient. The last ingredient is Hyrule Bass, and after Link cooks the recipe, he can show it to the Old Man to earn the [[Warm Doublet]].

Hyrule Bass can be cooked with virtually any other food ingredients to create a variety of seafood dishes.
