Before Link can enter the dungeon, he must defeat one of the goron elders in a sumo wrestling match.  This requires the Iron Boots, which Link acquires from Mayor Bo.  After defeating him twice, the elder allows Link to access the mines, and asks Link to try and figure out what's causing their Patriarch, Darbus, to act insane.  There are three elders in certain rooms of the dungeon, each one keeping a Key Shard safe.  When Link talks to them, they give him the key shards, which form into the Big Key.  Link must also defeat the miniboss, a huge goron who guards the Hero's Bow.
