In ''A Link to the Past'', [[Link]] will encounter Kiki while journeying through the [[Dark Palace Grounds]] in search of the [[Dark Palace]]. Link will find Kiki within the garden and Kiki will begin to follow Link. Kiki loves [[Rupee]]s and initially asks Link if he can spare 10 rupees.<ref name="Quote 1"/> If Link declines to give Kiki the rupees, Kiki will say he has no reason to talk to Link anyway and subsequencely stop following him and jump back into the garden.<ref>{{Cite|ALttP|325|Kiki}}</ref> If Link agrees to give Kiki rupees, the monkey will continue to follow him.<ref>{{Cite|ALttP|324|Kiki}}</ref>

While following Link, if Link takes any damage at all, Kiki will immediately run off back to the garden.
