Overview
Stone Talus is one of the many overworld bosses found in Breath of the Wild. It disguises itself in the ground as a collection of rocks, and the boss forms as Link draws near. The Stone Talus is the first overworld boss the player can encounter in the game, situated in the Forest of Spirits on the Great Plateau.

Locations
The boss can be found all over Hyrule, and it has many different variants, such as the Frost Talus which can be found in very cold areas of the game. Be sure to check out our Interactive Map for all the different locations the Stone Talus and its variants can be found.

Strategy
As there is only one phase to this boss fight, the strategy is very simple. Exposed on the top of all Stone Talus' is an Ore Deposit or Rare Ore, which is essentially its weak point. If the player has a bow, it can prove extremely useful here, since on a successful hit, the Stone Talus will drop to the ground, which allows Link to climb onto the top of the boss, where he can deal devastating damage onto his weak point. An excellent strategy here is to use the most powerful weapon in the player's arsenal, and charging a spin attack to deal maximum damage before Link is knocked off. This boss only has one offensive attack, where it throws a punch at Link, where its rock arm breaks off in the process. This attack can be easily avoided by running around, and after its arm is lost, it will attempt to create a new one from the ground, at which point Link is able to climb up to the top once more and deal damage to the weak point.

Remote Bombs can be used on the Stone Talus' arms, which will destroy them and force it to create a new one; the perfect time to climb up and unleash hell.
