A Trading Sequence is a type of side quest that appears in six games in The Legend of Zelda series. It always involves a series of items that must be traded to various people to obtain new items. At times, there are also time limits or mini-games. Once the sequence is complete, it usually rewards Link with a prize. Trading sequences are not always optional. Sometimes, it will reward Link with items required to complete the game.

The Wind Waker Trading Sequence
The Trading Sequence in The Wind Waker occurs as a part of the partnership Link forms with Zunari at his shop. This sequence is slightly different from the previous ones, as Link does not have to obtain all items in the trading sequence and give them out in a set pattern. Instead, Link simply needs to trade his items for other items to the Traveling Merchants in order to finally get the Shop Guru Statue, which can in turn be traded for a Piece of Heart. Along the way, Link also obtains the Magic Armor from Zunari.

The Yoshi Doll was the first item in the Trading Sequence, and It can be found in Mabe Village, in the Trendy Game Shop. It is not moving at all; making it very simple to collect. It can be collected as soon as Link has collected enough Rupees to play the game, which is 10 Rupees.

Trading Sequences

The second item in the Trading Sequence is the Ribbon. It can also be found in Mabe Village, so again can be gotten very early on in the game. It can be traded for the Yoshi Doll with Paphal's Wife. She will tell her Link that her baby is crying and she needs something to calm it down. The Yoshi Doll is perfect!

Dog Food
The next item is called the Dog Food, and yet again it can be found in Mabe Village. In the house with the BowWow out front, there will be a small BowWow that will ask to trade for the Ribbon. In return, she will give Link the Dog Food.

Bananas
The first item in the Trading Sequence, the Bananas can be acquired by trading with Sale, a crocodile that lives in a small house on the Toronbo Shores. He will be very happy to see the Dog Food, and will give Link some nice Bananas in exchange.

Stick
The Stick is the first Trading Sequence item that is actually required for the main quest. On Link's way to Kanalet Castle, he will be stopped by a broken bridge. However, a Monkey by the name Kiki will come and offer to build a bridge in exchange for the Bananas. Link will accept; and Kiki will call his monkey friends and together they will build a bridge. After they are done, Link can collect the Stick that they left on the floor.

Honeycomb
The sixth item in the Trading Sequence can be collected after Link has completed the Key Cavern. In the Ukuku Prairie, Tarim can be seen standing beside a tree. He will ask to borrow the Stick Link has, and will use it to whack away at a beehive that is attached to the tree. The Bees will chase Tarin off the screen, and leave behind the Honeycomb.

Pineapple
The item in the Trading Sequence can be found in the Animal Village, in the house to the very southeast. Inside, Chef Bear will ask Link to use his Honeycomb in his food, and will give Link a Pineapple in exchange.

Hibiscus
The eighth item in the Trading Sequence can be found in the Tal Tal Heights area. Paphal, the guy from Mabe Village, will ask Link for food because he is so hungry. Link can give him the Pineapple, and in exchange Paphal will give Link a Hibiscus.
