I was just wondering whether anyone in this forum listens to any of these genres of music.

In particular Dubstep and Gorestep which is hugely popular but gains very little Radio or TV play time due it being a little hardcore.
In all respect, these 4 genres do seem to be more popular on the east side of the atlantic, but there may well be some Americans out there who like the genre.
Please tell me there are other people out there who love DUBSTEP!

YESS Dubstep! i think i tried to make a thread about this once and no one replied. I even posted a Zelda Dubstep remix, but no one seemed interested!
Anyway yeah I'm from the east coast of Canada and Halifax is kind of exploding with this new genre. just put halifax and dubstep into google ahah. But seriously wobwobwubwubwobwobwob hahahaha that's kind of what it's like with all the bass! it's SIC.

I can't say enough about it, it can pretty much encompass any genre within it so I just look for the remixes when I want to hear those old tunes I liked, so much better with a bad beat and some heavy bass, BIGG!

Listening to it right now actually, I like to download hour long podcasts and just let those run. The Jaime Le Dubstep podcasts I get come out weekly so each school week I get to enjoy their next segment or whatever. Featuring Local and National DJ's who are headliners here in Canada. It's what I've waiting to hear all my life, and I didn't know it.

My top 3 genres would be - Dubstep
- Drum and Bass
- and Chiptunes
It's all I listen too lol

I know some artists for each of those if you're interested.

Dubstep - Klippa [1|2|3]
Drum and Bass - Chase & Status (absolutely kickass), Jackal Queenston [1|2|3|4], The Queenstons [1|2|3|4]
Chiptunes - Kitsune^2 [1|2|3]

More tracks from Jackal Queenston: [1|2]
More tracks from Kitsune^2: [1]

And that's just for those genres. You might have noticed that all of them except Chase & Status are all on two bandcamp sites. Both sites are for one artist, who is my electronic idol. I get pretty much all my electronica from him, maaaan.

Favourites:
"Cardopusher Please Come Home Your Dinner Is Getting Cold" - Renard (Breakcore / Happy Hardcore)
"Destroy" - Kitcaliber (Digital Hardcore)
"Tune Out" - Azrael (Gabber?)
"Better Day" - Mayhem (Electro)
"The Big Black" - The Quick Brown Fox (Speedcore)
"Spacedust" - The Queenstons (D&
"Something Beautiful" - NegaRen
"The Club" - Renard & VA
"Hardcore Disco" - Furries in a Blender
"Oops" - Mayhem (Electro)
"I'm Sorry You Don't Understand" - Renard (NOISEEE<3)

I like me some electronic musics :3

You see, I had no idea that anyone from that side of the Atlantic listened to Dubstep.

I know it originated from Reggae and the Caribbean, but I swear whenever I talk to someone from the US or Canada about it they just beam the most expressionless face. You are the first of anyone I know from N.America! :)

Really? well I suppose.. but if you take a look Dubstep seems to be the most popular in the UK and in Canada with the US as a close third, naturally with Canada's heritage we "try" to follow the UK music scene in terms of Drum and Bass quite closely and have developed our own style with just as many producers and Dj's There's a Poscast called CCDNB which features all Canadian Drum and Bass artists, this has helped me to fully understand how far canada has developed in terms of dnb.

Dubstep is a little more recent but it's seems to be exploding here in earnest, especially here on the east coast and over on the west coast as well.

Chase and Status are VERY good. They actually do a mixture of different genre's when performing their music. I think their main influence IS drum&bass, however they do have Dubstep and Jungle songs aswell. But, they're from England, so they rock anyway.

Favourite: End Credits (featuring Plan , Heartbeat (featuring Nneka).

When you say electronic, do you mean like Happy Hardcore and Techno? I don't really go that far into that side. I only really go as far as 16bit in the way of Techno but otherwise it has to be a Jungle beat with plenty of Dub.

The Dubstepper you linked, Klippa is pretty good but his music sounds like it's from a video game. Nothing wrong with that, just a little unorthodox for me. haha!
If you want to listen to some truely good Dubstep, then listen to the artists that take influences from Reggae.

I thought that Canada was more with the music scene in the US?
To be honest, the mainstream of British music only stretches as far as Pop, all of our good music such as DrumandBass and Dubstep is left to the Underground.
Hearing about it spreading in Canada is good news, hopefully the rest of America will eventually catch on! :)

I'm not super-familiar with electronic music terminalogy so I might listen to bands of that type while not being entirely sure. One thing I do know is that IDM artists like Aphex Twin and Squarepusher have incorporated aspects of drum-and-bass (I've always heard it called "jungle", but I'm not entirely sure about what I'm talking about :P) into their music, and I love those guys.

I've also heard that Johny Greenwood (guitarist for Radiohead) fell in love with dubstep before the recording of In Rainbows, and anything Johny Greenwood loves is awesome in my book.
