Spikes only appear in the Water Temple. They are first found in the main room on the sunken sand of the lowest floor.

Spike only appears one time throughout the game, which is the Water Temple. They can be found first in the main room on the sand of the lowest section in a sunked hole.
They can be defeated once their spikes are retracted. Underwater, Link can only defeat them with the Hookshot. If they are spiked, Link can shoot them with the Hookshot or use his shield against them to un-spike them, and then shoot them one more time to defeat them.
They will come against Link rolling if he comes nearby, and when they are un-spiked, Link have the chance to defeat them before they retract their spikes again. When Link is underwater, he can only use his Hookshot to defeat them, and if they are spiked, he can use it to shoot them making them un-spiked and have the chance to defeat them. Also, Link can make them un-spiked by using his Shield against them.
