As a child, Link travels to Goron City in order to collect the Spiritual Stone of Fire a.k.a Gorons' Ruby. But Darunia isn't in a good mood because his people are starving because of Ganondorfs curse. Ganondorf demanded the Gorons' Ruby but didn't get it, so he  blocked the pathway to Dodongo's Cavern (which was the main food supply for the Gorons) with a huge boulder. But Link defeated the mosnters inside the cavern and blew up the boulder and as a reward he got the Ruby and the Title "Hero of the Gorons".
As a child Link travels to Goron City in order to collect the Spiritual Stone of Fire, the Goron Ruby. Darunia, the leader of the Gorons is very angry because his people are starving thanks to Ganondorf, who blocked the entrance to Dodongos cavern, the Gorons main source of food, after the Gorns wouldn't give him their Ruby. Link goes into Dodongos cavern, defeats the monster, reverses Ganondorfs curse and retrieves the Gron Ruby. Durinia then makes Link a Goron bbrother and names his son after Link!

Much later in the game Link must return after Ganon has revived Volvagia, an ancient monster that the hero of Gorons defeated once before using the Megaton hammer, and kidnapped all the Gorons and threw them into the dungeon in Death Mountain. Once again Link comes to the rescue and defeats Volvagia, rescueing the Gorons. Durunia is also one of the six sages and a town is named after him, or maybe the ohter way around, in The Adventure of Link.
