Four Swords Adventures
The Fire Rod in Four Swords Adventures, is just like all the others we've seen in previous Zelda games. It can one, be waved as a single flame, two, when form the Link's as a group, be thrown as a cascade of flames, three, be used like the Cane of Somaria, when upgraded to the Level 2 Fire Rod, to form a block and be depleted into four flames to go in each direction, and four, when holding the action button on any controller, can be used as a flamethrower. With some encounters with Shadow Link, he actually uses it against you.
The Fire Rod in Four Swords Adventures functions in a similar fashion to its other incarnations, firing ball of flame. If the item button is held down, the Fire Rod will act as a flamethrower, shooting a continuous stream of fire. Once upgraded to level two at a fairy fountain, the Fire Rod gains the powers of the Cane of Somaria, as seen in A Link to the Past, creating blocks that can be used to depress switches. The upgraded Fire Rod also can create platforms in specific locations marked by a question mark. Shadow Link will even use the weapon against Link in certain encounters.
