However, in all of these games Link can obtain a medicine which is in a Bottle. Once drunk, the bottle disappears from Link's inventory.

Bottles have been a staple item in most Zelda games since ''[[The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past|A Link to the Past]]''. Link can use bottles to hold potions or fairies inside them. He usually obtains one from the main quest, and the rest must be obtained through side quests.

[[Potion]]s can be stored inside your bottles for later use, they have multiple uses, all of them restorative.

[[Fairy|Fairies]] can be held in bottles as well, and releasing them has the effect of them using their healing magic on [[Link]].

You can hold odd things in bottles that aren't exactly meant to be... healthy. In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time|Ocarina of Time]]'', you can hold bugs in bottles and release them in certain areas to obtain [[Rupee]]s or [[Gold Skulltula]]s. You can also store [[Poe]]s, which can be sold to the [[Poe Collector]]. Or you can try to eat them, they usually hurt Link, but sometimes heal him.
