Purpose
A Hatnote is a brief note that appears at the top of a page or section. It is used for information that a reader might wish to know before reading the article or section, such as whether it is the desired article or section, or if there is a more specific one. This template is used to enforce a common style across all such notes.
This is a metatemplate, meaning it should only be used in other templates. If custom usage is required, then it is likely improper usage. Discuss it on the talk page first.
