Link's Awakening Why Do People Hate On Link's Awakening

Yeah, I don't see a lot of people hating on LA, but every game has people who don't like it. Personally, I love Link's Awakening due to the many Mario references (coughcough BowWow coughcough) plus a sadish story.

I'm not sure it's hated, so much as it is unknown.

When the game came out in 1993, it was fantastic. I think it still ranks as one of the top portable games of that decade. The level design is terrific; the music is top-notch. It really is a great game. I recently went through it (for the first time in at least 15 years) and my biggest complaint is that the game is just too easy and too short. Although I know this comes from being spoiled with recent Zelda titles, as well as games like Skyrim. And let's remember, this was the original game boy; that system had limitations.
