Why does there have to be a twist? Actually, better question: Why does Aonuma continually insist on using Zelda games as a test for outlandish ideas that may or may not work?
I'm terrified every time this man opens his mouth about Zelda, because I believe him to be behind the most questionable decisions that have occurred with 3D Zelda recently. An inability to decide what the franchise's art style is which lead to its loss of identity because of contradiction, insisting to use the latest "Nintendo gimmick" in the most intrusive way possible, changing the conventions of the series to be more Mario-esque, and now he wants to put his own "unique spin" on something as traditional and basic as an open world?
It could end up awesome, I acknowledge that since we know literally nothing about it. But the man does not have the benefit of the doubt from me because of his track record so far, and it's pretty sad that I'm assuming that it'll result in an inferior product. This isn't like Mario, which has a near perfect track record when it comes to actual well-implemented innovation.
