So About Gen VI's Music...

I'm not gonna lie, the music I've heard in Pokemon Y is some of the best I've heard in any video game period. Pokemon has always had good music, but never anything CLOSE to this caliber.

I can't find very many songs on YouTube (or anywhere else) at this point in time, but my favorites so far are the Super Training theme and "eye contact" themes, i.e. the ones played right before Trainer battles. Team Flare's is pretty kick-***, as well.

I'm curious as to what you guys think about the music and which themes are YOUR favorites. Tell me in the comments!

While I haven't played the game, the samples Pokemon X & Y's soundtrack that I've been looking at just a few minutes ago do interest me. I don't have a favorite one just yet, but the Trainer Battle theme has a nice touch to it; the Midi-fied guitar produces engaging tension throughout, with a nice medium tempo in the background.

As far as the quality goes, it's not supposed to be as impressive as most other game soundtracks to video game junkies such as myself. After listening to things such as orchestrations [Aion: Tower of Eternity] or live recordings of guitar riffs [Guilty Gear], the Midi begins to feel outdated. Thing is, Nintendo resorts to Midi a lot in their soundtracks, especially in their primary franchises, so PokemonX/Y will follow suit, naturally. Even so, I have taken a liking to the X/Y score

OMG I love that power plant theme! Reminds me a bit of Mystery Dungeon, which has some very good music.

The **** you talkin' about, Willis? Gen VI uses a mix of orchestration and MIDI, just like most other recent Nintendo exclusives.

I really have to agree with everybody. X and Y's music is just so amazing and spectaculr an extroardinakrjndkfkdfksdf LISTEN TO THE BEAUTY

I really like the plant theme too, it reminds me of Time Stalkers for the dreamcast. And in general just a very good sound track.

The Gym leader music is also the best its been, though I'll admit I think I would have liked different boss leaders to have different songs, it doesn't entirly fit the theme of every gym, but I suppose if there was one song to re use for all of them it'd be that one.

Over all this game has the best sound track, just from the towns and wilderness.

Ok so I'm still not all that far in (just about to face off against Grant) but I've already heard quite a bit that has me stoked. I love the amount of guitarwork that's gone into this soundtrack, definitely sets it apart from previous soundtracks. And yet, at the same time it has an almost Studio Ghibli feel to it as well. Kinda hard to explain

I think the Bike theme is my favorite so far. So happy and thrilling and adventuresome! AWESOME!!!

I also the Santalune Forest theme. A sense of mystery as you're walking through an unknown forest, with chimes and bird calls in the distance. So nice.

I love Prof. Sycamore's theme. So classy, so moving, so French! Also reminds me a lot of Prof. Latyon's theme.

The gym leader theme is totally kickass. A sense of tension mixed with awesome 80's style montage guitar riffs (at least that's what I think of) really comes together well.

The Team Flare's theme is also really catchy. Contrasting the semi-orchestral feel of a good section of the OST, this one's totally electronica, totally in-your-face. It's like "Yeah, we know, this doesn't really fit the rest of the music. Whaddaya gonna do about it, punk?!"

Others I really like are the *Clothes Shop*, Rival theme, Route 4-7 theme, and Lumiose City. I'm sure to find others I'll love as well, what I've heard is very promising!

(LATER EDIT) I've also come to really enjoy the variations of the Rival battle theme, the surfing theme, Coumarine & Dendemille City, the Power Plant/PokeBall Factory theme, Korrina's Successor Battle, and the various extra-training themes (particularly the Secret Super Training Theme)
