I'd say yes BECAAAAAUSE:

This way there could be a game taking place during the Hyrulean Civil War. The Link you would play as could be Hylian knight. But Ohoho not so fast not just a regular Hylian Knight. This Hylian Knight would be that certain Hylian Knight who is the Hero of Time's father!

In the game you would have a wife who would be pregnant, and at the end after the final battle, you get killed (or sacrifice yourself for some reason) and the end scene could be a mother with her newly born child stumbling into the forest, entrusting her child with the Great Deku Tree, and then dying. Direct prequel to OoT???? Ganondorf makes a cameo??? Spy missions on the at the time unfriendly different races in Hyrule???

Have been crying about this SB for like a week now, Zelda needs to stop with constant happy endings and hero always wins scenario, Needs to have something different. Why can't they make it so that the hero saves the day but pays a cost for doing so, Someone close to him gets hurt or dies etc. Then we can have a sequel to the game which shows us how our hero copes with the situation. Maybe a Zelda game trilogy where we can see even more development in characters in more detail instead of just everything packed into one game

Just an idea:

Game 1: Origin story, Link is X & Y.. Becomes Z and saves hyrule.. Happy ending.
Game 2: Sequel, Link attempts to save the day.. But dies and all hope is lost. Mysterious/Sad ending.
Game 3. Finale, Link knocked zelda up in the sequel and has a son, who after many years of training follows his father's footsteps and saves the day. Happy ending.

Link's death would be really interesting maybe if it could happen early in the game with link having 1 son before he dies and it could go from there!

There was no hero to stop Ganondorf. Thats why the goddesses flooded hyrule. Also link shouldn't die. He's the hero!:(

Hanyou

didn't build that
People saying Zelda always has happy endings: Have any of you played Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, and The Wind Waker? I would hardly say any of those games have perfect victories. The endings hit hard.

Zelda games rarely have completely happy endings--something is almost always sacrificed, and thankfully it's never as silly and simplistic as the hero dying. Far more interesting things are done with the endings when they're sad.
