This art is so pretty, but the op got harassed by people on Twitter calling her a racist for not drawing the live action Halle Bailey version of the Little Mermaid and accused her of only liking the version of her being white, which is a really odd assumption

Makes me really upset that she got harassed just for making a drawing of the animated movie version of the Little Mermaid.

Ironic if people are actually complaining about that, because the whole movie exists solely to push more merch, and 50% of the merch being pushed is white Ariel. We have a whole "little mermaid" section set up in the front of target and it's a mix of both ariels, sometimes together

i keep thinking about that thing where disney casts minorities not for representation but because it makes them exempt from criticism because peoppe will not score the movies too low or they'll be cancelled for being racist

I think it’s great that little girls who are black can look at the character and go “she looks just like me!”, but at the same time I doubt Disney really cares about the actor or the amount of hate she’s faced

i dont have a problem with the casting choices for the film, but its disney's scumminess that makes me so irritated like... this girl is very talented and deserves better

That, and it's probably done also as a publicity stunt. Trashy live action mermaid movie? No one cares. Race swapped mermaid movie? Everyone loses their minds, even though the actual movie is probably the same boring garbage it would have been anyway.

I heard zootopia 2 was announced
Apparently there's a large group of people who believe Nick and Judy were legit a thing at the end of the first movie, but I can't really interpret their relationship that way because they're straight up different species, I guess if they were the same species there's a lot of stuff that *could* have been seen as romantic tension, but I refuse to believe disney was going for that.

reminds me... i have couple concept for my game; an elm sawfly and a bald faced hornet are a married couple and they have a son... but the catch is, male hymenopterans are only biologically related to their mothers (cuz they develop from unfertilized eggs) so the son is a sawfly too

Yeah yikes, luckily I don't see people say that kind of stuff about nick and Judy (I don't interact with that fandom at all though) but i mean it's physically impossible for them to do that anyway so. But yeah, relationships without boning exist, and they would kind of have to in this context, but I'm sure that wouldn't stop people.
The reason this is on my mind is cus my coworker mentioned it yesterday and had apparently heard that disney confirmed the movie would be about their hybrid kids, I looked into that and found nothing, but that sounds like an awful direction to take it in anyway, and also just wouldn't make any sense lmao.
