I thought that in terms of rhyme this piece is among your best but the subject matter made me flinch. It is indeed a bit darker and more profane than your usual writing. Love the movie reference to Disney, Pixar, etc. Superb incorporation of your own name. The word "yo" is now officially cursed as a Monti Thunder attraction bell; I smiled a bit at that part. I'm thinking of taking up poetry myself sometime soon. It's a beautiful form of expression I feel I haven't explored and someday hope to equal the likes of you and ZU's moderator Gamzee.
I've been looking for a reason
A change of the seasons
Something to change my mind
But suffering and pain
Perpetual disdain
And this emptiness are all that I find
Somebody help
I need to break out of this shell
And embrace the light this world provides
I have to move on
Don't tell me that I'm wrong
When this emptiness is all that I find
I feel stuck in time
Trapped in a vortex in my mind
As I feel this regret every day
My life is an illusion
Scar tissue with a contusion
And the pain never goes away
I build a sturdy boat
As I prepare myself to float
Down the river of time
For once I feel the light
At last I'm ridded of my plight
Emptiness nowhere to be found
Also, I posted this in a blog a few days ago, but I figure I'll post it while I'm here:
"The Storm"
The calm before the storm
In a cloud before he's born
Solitude without scorn
The calm before the storm
Then the storm clouds gather around
Above a quiet suburban town
And puddles form on the ground
Where new life is to be found
As the puddle evaporates
The raindrop changes state
And the adolescent knows his fate
To fall again, and so he waits
A quiet summer night
A summer full of plight
The storm clouds take flight
And release fury with all their might
The storm comforts his fears
He takes solace in the tears
As they fall from the atmosphere
The only ones who hold him dear
The storm fades and is replaced
By nothing but empty space
The sun returns to its place
A comforting, beautiful face
Sun and rain are joined together
By a bondage to last forever
Not to be severed
A rainbow emerges from the never
The rainbow comes to life
He experiences his first strife
And he begins to wonder why
So father teaches him to cry
Mother soon falls ill
The sun sets as it always will
And the night soon falls still
And with tears the night is filled
The same fate befalls the rain
Him the puddle can no longer contain
So he escapes the world of disdain
Never to be seen again
The storm before the calm
Soon he will be gone
The world now in the rainbow's palm
The storm before the calm
