Whenever I write on paper or type up a story, I always go for perfect spelling and the best grammar I possibly can. An exception would be if a character was being casual and their dialogue would have to represent that state of mind. On the Internet, I am usually more relaxed. In the chatbox, I just butcher my words and sentences either on accident or for comedic effects.

If I'm typing something up that's supposed to be me talking (like right now), I'll type it exactly as I'd say it, incorrect grammar and missing punctuation and all. Obviously, formal writing calls for correct use of grammar and syntax. But I don't consider formal writing to be written in my real voice anyway. :p
