Everyone always seems to praise the sequel but the original set the benchmark. In traditional Valve fashion there are little to no cutscenes, the player interacts with the environment from the start.

Although I prefer the sequel, the first got you into the action right away in much better form. For once Bowser's threat seemed more than hollow.

Skyrim, mainly because me and my friend loved the new graphics, and the surprise dragon attack was awesome.

Overall, I am very impressed with the entirety of the Rune Factory games' openings. All five of the games that are released so far have shared a similar animé-like style in their openings, and it just looks really appealing. The first game had a very lengthy one, but the animations were very satisfactory and fitting.

I think Rune Factory Frontier's was probably the best because it is more supporting of more than one heroine, unlike its prequel.

I just think it is a nice way to introduce a role-playing game. Most people who enjoy RPGs also like animé, so hinting towards that kind of style probably pleased many fans.

I don't like this game and i like this cutscene even less now because its Sakamoto really just basking in his past success rather than making anything that even comes close to his original genius, but the cutscene looks spectacular and while it is just self-obsessed fan service and nothing more, its still rather entertaining.
