Don't you get paid?? Over here we get paid after the first two days. If I call in sick I have to wait for two days before I'll get paid and in some cases even after 1 day. I had this before. I need to get it checked by the Doctor one day but I'm always like "nah it will pass."
I'm glad the pain killers are kicking in! Be careful my friend. I know it sucks because of work but health is more important.
Since I am employed as a "Casual" and not "Part Time" or "Full Time" I do not get guaranteed hours, sick pay or annual leave.
One advantage is casual loading though, so every hour I do work I get around a 20% higher hourly rate than part time and full time employees. Since I have this extra pay, plus work gives me as many hours as I want anyway despite them not being legally bound to give me more than 3 per week and I never usually take sick days I think these advantages outweigh the things I miss out on. Plus I can take (unpaid) leave whenever I want as long as I give them three weeks notice.
Now I'm on about $20.67 an hour but a part time or full time employee (my age) would only get $16.76 per hour. Last week alone the casual loading was an extra $75, so usually it works out well.
