The statue is intended to resemble the goddess Hylia, the deity that fought off the [[Demon Tribe]], rallying other races to imprison [[Demise]]. This statue has a significant role throughout the story, from beginning to end. After his victory in the [[Wing Ceremony]], [[Zelda (Skyward Sword)|Zelda]] gives the [[Sailcloth]] to [[Link (Skyward Sword)|Link]] atop the statue as part of the [[Ceremony of the Goddess]]. Link also first receives the [[Goddess Sword]] from [[Inside the Statue of the Goddess]], as part of his first encounter with [[Fi]]. It is also the place where he will put several tablets which will allow him to access various regions of the [[Surface]].
