All songs played in The Wind Waker are played on the Wind Waker itself and are used to do various things across the Great Sea. Link can play in three time signatures; 3/4, 4/4, and 6/8 time. Each signature has two songs allotted to it, meaning a total of six songs that Link can play, or conduct, in this case. The "Wind's Requiem", learned at the Wind Shrine behind Dragon Roost Island after beating Dragon Roost Cavern, is played in 3/4 time and is used to change the wind direction. The "Song of Passing" is learned after showing Tott on Windfall Island (the guy dancing by the tombstone) the Wind Waker. It is the other 3/4 time song in this game and is used to change day to night, or vice versa. The "Command Melody" is learned in the Tower of the Gods and is used to take control of statues and, during the Earth and Wind Temples, other people. This song is played in 4/4 time, along with the "Ballad of the Gales", which is only possible to learn after beating the Tower of the Gods and shooting Cyclos, Zephos' brother, three times in his whirlwind. The "Ballad of the Gales" is used to warp to various cyclone spots around the Great Sea to make travel faster. The last two songs, both played in 6/8 time, are the "Wind God's Aria" and the "Earth God's Lyric". These songs are learned at Gale Isle and Headstone Island respectively and are used to awaken the new sages of the Wind and Earth Temples and to break a few tablets in the temples as well.
