The instrument that Link plays in Spirit Tracks is the Spirit Flute, one of the six Lokomo instruments. Spirit Tracks has a total of five songs that Link can play at will, all learned from rocket statues around Hyrule that "blast off" once Link learns their song. The "Song of Awakening", learned at the Forest Sanctuary, allows Link to wake up sleeping statues that may give him useful advice, sometimes for rupees. The "Song of Healing", learned at the Forest Temple, allows Link to restore all his hearts once per dungeon or Tower of Spirits visit. The "Song of Discovery", learned at Anouki Village, is used to discover things hidden in the ground. The "Song of Light", the longest song in the game, is learned at the Trading Post, and is used to activate light beacons around Hyrule. The "Song of Birds", the last song learned in the game, is learned at Papuchia Village, and is used to call birds to Link so he may latch onto them with the Whip and access new areas. | |||
This game also requires Link to play duets with other Lokomos to restore the Spirit Tracks to the temples around Hyrule in order to access them. Each song is played in a different realm, with a different Lokomo, and is progressively harder than the last, finally ending with a septet during the final boss battle. | |||
