Deku Baba: Difference between revisions

In Twilight Princess there are three variations of Deku Babas. The common ones will come out of a tiny patch of grass and attempt to attack Link when he gets too close. These can be taken out easily by stunning them with a projectile weapon (Arrows, boomerang, slingshot, etc.), then slashing them with Link's sword. The second type of Deku Baba is known as a Baba Serpent, a variety which has 2 stages. After Link cuts its stem, it will slither along the ground, chomping its teeth and occasionally lunging towards Link. Link must then attack it, or it will grab a hold of Link. The only way to get out of its grip is to perform a spin attack. Baba Serpents can also be found hanging from the ceiling. Again, using projectile weapons to stun them can be very helpful. The last type of Deku Baba is known as a Big Baba. These varieties are defeated by first defeating a snake-like carnivorous head, then throwing a bomb into the open flower part that the head grew from. The plant will then proceed to ingest the bomb and explode. The Big Baba is fought twice, once in the Forest Temple, and once in the City of the Sky.

When battling a Deku Baba, Link can spit the head of the enemy from its stem using several weapons including the [[Boomerang]]. The plant will stay alive in the form of a [[Baba Serpent]], where it will jump around on the floor towards Link trying to bite at him. If left alone, these Baba Serpent can re-attach to their base to form Deku Babas.

A [[Big Baba]] is a much larger version of a Deku Baba found within the [[Forest Temple]] and the [[City in the Sky]]. These creatures have much larger range due to their long stems. Once one has been defeated it will turn into a [[Deku Like]].

The Twilit Parasite: Diababa is a large, three-headed version of a Deku Baba. There is only one of them in the game and it serves as the Temple boss within the [[Forest Temple]].

A [[Twilit Baba]] serves as the the Twilight version of a standard Deku Baba. They have a slightly different appearance but all of their attacks remain the same. However, Twilit Baba cause more damage to Link than a standard Deku Baba.

Deku Baba's did not make an appearance in [[The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Spirit_Tracks|Spirit Tracks]]. However, a very similar enemy known as a [[Fire Baba]] did and it shared many of the same characteristics.

Fire Baba share some of the similar characters as Deku Baba in that they are plant-like creatures sprung from the ground. Unlike standard Deku Babas, these creatures don't initially Link by biting him, but instead, they will shoot fireballs towards Link. Link can separate its head from its stem using the [[Whip]], and the Fire Baba will then try to bite Link.

There are two known variations of Deku Babas in [[The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Skyward_Sword|Skyward Sword]], but the two share very similar characters with only minor differences.

Deku Babas greatly resemble their appearance from previous Zelda titles. They come out from underground and try to bite Link if he gets too close. A new feature is that when battling the Deku Babas, Link must slash in the direction that the enemy's mouth is open. Some Deku Babas need to be sliced vertically while others need to be sliced horizontally. Alternatively, Link can toss or roll a bomb towards a Deku Baba and it will gobble it up before exploding within its mouth.

Some Deku Babas can be seen hanging from walls or the ceiling and they are out of reach from Link's sword. In order to defeat these fellows, Link must use the [[beetle]]. After sending out the beetle, Link can track its direction so that it cuts down the deku babas from their stems, causing them to fall to the floor in defeat. Link can also use his bow and arrow to cut these deku babas from their stem.

The Golden Deku Baba is a stronger variation of the standard Deku Baba. It will attack Link in the same ways as a standard deku baba by lunging towards Link, attempting to bite him. Its mouth is divided into four parts, rather than the two halves that a standard deku baba will have. This will allow the golden baba to alternate directions in which its mouth opens, meaning Link will have to slash either horizontally or vertically, depending on how its mouth is open. Additionally, unlike standard deku babas, the golden babas take multiple hits to defeat and can be quite challenging.

A Deku Baba is featured as a sticker within ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]''. The sticker gives a bonus of +4 to arm and leg attacks, and can be applied to anyone.
