Queen Gibdo's arena any time it is fought will always contain four mushroom-shaped hives of sand that will remain inert in this first phase. Queen Gibdo will skitter around the arena, usually keeping to the darkest parts of the room, and fire a sand beam at Link, before fluttering in the air, out of melee weapon's reach. Either [[Riju's Power of Lightning]], [[Arrows]] fused with [[Fire Fruit]] or [[Shock Fruit]], or beams of light shone from [[Mirror]] Zonai Devices can be used here to attack Queen Gibdo, causing her to turn pale, fly to an adjacent part of the arena and land on the ground. She will then pound the ground to cause four sand tornados to appear, damaging Link if he gets caught in them. If Queen Gibdo is not hit further times with fire or lightning damage while on the ground, it will regain her complexion and usually execute a charging attack where she will stomp across the ground into Link at an unavoidable speed. She switches phases when she is brought down to half health.

As Queen Gibdo has a head hitbox (meaning she is vulnerable to critical hits via headshotting) and the player would have access to a large supply of [[Gibdo Bone]]s, powerful single-use arrow fuse materials, an easy way to deal high damage is to get Link into the air and use Bullet Time to spam headshots with a multi-shot bow.
