Your favorite underated video game levels/locations/maps that probably aren't underated but whatever

Recently I was at the bar with a very good friend of mine in front of me, and by friend I mean a laptop with Zelda Dungeon loaded up on it and seeing a line from Castle in the shoutbox but what is a friend nowadays anyway right?

Castle mentioned that the spirit temple was underated but a favorite of his I think.

One of my favourite underated levels in videogams has to be Spring Yard Zone. I actually prefer it more than its crazier cousins, casino night and carnival night which many people prefer.

Spring yard felt really peaceful and mellow despite its neon lights and bumpers. I love the purple and brown colors this zone uses. I grew up with the pal version of Sonic which had much slower music than what the US got, but in a sense it fit well with the zone.

I was actually on the verge of making a "Favorite Video Game Levels" thread (at least I think that's what we're doing here) - even had a few lines typed up before abandoning it because my brain stopped working.

I'd be surprised if ZD doesn't already have a thread like this anyway.

The Ocean House Hotel in Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines is unforgettable.

Myst Island from Myst, but my favorite Age from Myst is a toss up between Channelwood and Stoneship. Selenetic is the largest by far but it's more of a worthy sightseeing tour that's lacking character. Mechanical is too small and focused to be considered.

The Gahreesen and Teledahn ages from Myst Online: Uru Live or Ages Beyond Myst depending on what version are also standouts. I wish Cyan had the opportunity to add more areas to those two.

My All Time Favorite Video Game Level is probably always going to be Ocarina of Time's Forest Temple. Special mention to Twilight Princess' Snowpeak Manor. Love me some TP Temple of Time too. Dat Darknut fight, MmmHm :)

Garrus and Thane's recruitment missions in Mass Effect 2 are best in series. Special Mention to Jack and Miranda's loyalty missions. Novaria is the first game's best for the story, but the Theros colony is all action and the boss fight against the Thorian is sick af. Storming the Citadel Station after Saren's invasion is also pretty sweet. If it's DLC we're talking about, nothing beats the entirety of Lair of the Shadow Broker, but the Broker's base is definitely the best.

I was always a huge fan of Epitaph from Halo 3.

I often preferred the smaller maps in Halo, favouring close combat to long-range, or vehicular battles (though I did lose those, too). Maps like Guardian and Halo 2's Lockout are rightly considered all-time classics, but Epitaph gets overlooked, I feel. It had its main point of conflict in the middle, which had multiple levels and approaches, and a rocket launcher on the floating platform above (which could actually be blasted out of position with enough firepower). There were walkways outside the main building, and plenty of pillars around for cover and ambushes.

It was a great map and I have many fond memories of it, not least of which was the time I stuck my friend with a plasma grenade as he ran through a door. It was Team Doubles and I knew our two enemies were waiting beyond the door, but by the time I could have explained that to my friend he'd have already ran through and gotten killed. So I stuck him. He got beaten to death almost instantly, but the grenade took both enemies with him at least. I think I did the right thing. My friend disagrees to this day.

Yoshi’s Story is a stage for hella shenanigans, especially in doubles or with a Marth and Ganon getting involved in the mix. Big, early killing hitboxes EVERYWHERE it’s chaos lmao

Uhh, definitely a fan of the big loop from Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune 2.

Last but not least would have to be Yoyorast Island from Halo Custom Edition. Not underrated in its day but completely forgotten since 2010. It’s a shame, it was a real showcase of the true passion and creativity modders used to have for the game.

I usually don't talk much about specific levels since I play for the story. I guess Starlight zone is one, love the music, since it's after Labyrinth it's overshadowed. I also like the ice level music from DKC2, always so good. I always go back to play through the Snowpeak ruins, always fun to relearn fighting on the ice.

Excuse me? As we all know the only TRUE game is Undertale, but it's underrated because of the patriarchy. The Ruins is the BEST location in the history of gaming. No, the BEST location in the entire UNIVERSE.

only FNAF rivals it.

Yeah Undertale is one of those games that gets far too much love juice whacked onto it by screaming soy infested Neanderthals. I watched segments of it and will agree there's some good ideas here and there but sadly its blown out of proportion by its fan base which is sad.
