Most Zelda Game Ever Since Zelda 2 has had a gimmick that seperated the game from the rest Zelda 2 had side scrolling a link to the past had access to the dark world, Ocarina of time had the 3d gameplay with the young and adult link mecanic, majoras mask had the 3 day cycle and the transformations oracle of seasons and ages had changing the seasons and time traveling respectivly the wind waker had obviously the wind waker and the open sea and boats, four swords and four sword adventures had the cloning thing minish cap had the shrinking mechanic and cloning, twilight princess had the twilight realms and wolf link, phantom hourglass had the boats and The Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks had the train and the spirit flute, skyward sword had the ne
w motion controls, loft wings, stamina bar and the skyward strike, A Link Between Worlds had the wall merge and the regenerating stamina bar and travel between hyrule and lorule, so what do you think the gimmick or mechanic will be for wii u. (cant think of anything for links awakening and obviously the original game was the start of it all so it had no gimmick)

There are two types of gimmicks that appear in Zelda games. One that affects the world you explore and the plot (WG) (such as the multiple points in time featured in OoT and OoA or like the twilight realm plot device in TP). The second type of gimmick is one that directly affects Link's abilities and the way the player can do things (GPG) (like the masks in MM or MC's shrinking ability). The game play related gimmicks are some times inspired by or are tailor made to work best with the systems hardware. So because we have no story info concerning Z-WiiU, I would say that what ever GPG the game features will have heavy use of the Game Pad's touch screen.
